A fourth-generation physician, Dr. Berger was born and raised in Virginia Beach. He and his wife, Dr. Katherine Berger, a pediatrician, enjoy raising their two daughters in the Hampton Roads area. 

Dr. Berger is actively involved in the community, volunteering his time at the Lions Eye Clinic offering free eye care and expert subspecialty treatments to reduce blindness in the Hampton Roads community.
